Sanctuary Village is currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to serve as Executive Director who will have primary responsibility for leadership of all aspects of the organization.

*ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW* Founded in 2019, Sanctuary Village is planning to build the Philadelphia area’s first tiny house village to serve as transitional housing, to alleviate homelessness.
We are also planning to hire staff, bring on residents, and begin its operation.
We are continuing to fundraise in order to build the complete village and plan to expand and build more villages in the coming years.
*POSITION OVERVIEW* Sanctuary Village is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates with a committed Board.
The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing an annual budget in excess of $2 million, and for hiring and overseeing a staff of at least 4 full- and part-time employees.
*Specific Responsibilities Include:* _*Strategy and Vision *_ · Develop long-term strategy and vision in collaboration with board and staff for the organization and programs, as well as the action plans required to achieve the strategy.
· Set and communicate organizational priorities and appropriately allocate human, financial, and operational resources to achieve those priorities.
_*Leadership*_ · Serve as the spokesperson for organization among donors, foundations, community leaders, industry groups, etc.
increasing both visibility and influence.
· Set priorities decisively, delegate responsibilities, and assure accountability to ensure results.
· Lead the organizations’ operations, culture, values, talent, and financial performance.
_*Board Communications*_ · Serving as a thought partner to the Board of Directo*r*s, collaborate with them to solidify organizational vision and positioning and maintain effective communication lines.
· Work closely with the Board and staff to develop and implement the strategic plan and integrate volunteer activities to achieve the mission.
· Inform the Board of matters that may significantly impact the organization or require Board action.
_*Operations Support & Execution*_ · Ensure all official organizational records, client records, and documents are maintained in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
· Ensure operational efficiency through organization of all aspects of operations and the utilization of technology.
_*Planning for New Village*_ · Work with government officials and other local advocates to locate an optimal site for a tiny house village · Work with internal and external experts to complete needed steps for building a village, such as obtaining building code and zoning variances · Find local advocate(s) to champion a tiny house village in their locale _*Development & External Communications*_ · Work proactively with the Board and staff to identify effective fundraising strategies.
· Maintain visibility in the community and actively engage and energize external stakeholders; increase funding streams to support programming.
· Drive and manage fundraising efforts and cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors.
· Actively engage external stakeholders to garner new opportunities for partnerships.
_*Financial Performance *_ · Develop annual operating budget for Board approval and provide Board members with regular reports of organizational progress and financial status.
· Achieve financial objectives; ensure financial best practices and record keeping are consistently implemented and timely; oversee annual audit.
· Negotiate contracts, leases, and agreements and, with partner(s) as appropriate, supervise building management.
_*Personnel Management & Planning*_ · Hire, manage, and supervise year-round staff including site staff, a case manager, and an administrative assistant.
· Champion a spirit of collaboration to advance organizational goals and build a shared sense of purpose among staff.
· Maintain a climate that attracts, motivates, and retains highly qualified individuals; build a culture that welcomes and encourages diversity among staff, board members, and partners.
· Model and drive human resources best practices - coach/motivate to encourage high level performance.
· Assess organization structure to ensure the right talent is in the right position to achieve objectives and plan for succession.
_*Programming*_ · Identify innovative solutions to providing support to residents that align with our mission and continuously improve outcomes.
· Ensure the program work of Sanctuary Village is documented and evaluated for effectiveness, and that key findings are disseminated to impact future work.
*Qualifications:* · At least 10 years of personnel management experience.
· Experience working in multi-cultural settings or communities, which may include multiracial interaction, economic diversity, and diversity of neighborhoods.
· Understanding of unhoused community and current policy issues.
· Strong business acumen, including an understanding of operations.
· Fundraising skills, including grant application writing, and public relations experience.
· Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff; manage, and develop high-performance teams; set and achieve strategic objectives; and manage a budget.
· Experience with planning and program management, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Experience working with a Board of Directors.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
· Action-oriented, adaptable, and able to explore novel ways of doing things.
· Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude; mission-driven, and self-directed.
· Proficient with computer software tools and systems including Office 365, QuickBooks, and Constant Contact.
*SALARY: *This is a one-year contract position with two weeks of paid vacation.
Benefits are not included.
