The Real Estate Development Associate will assist in the conceptual planning, design, and due diligence processes for industrial development/redevelopment projects pursued by the Company.
The ideal candidate will have a critical involvement in development requirements, plans, timelines, and communication (both internally and externally) to help ensure the Company’s success for both new and existing projects.
A predisposition towards teamwork, personal responsibility, and process improvement will be critical to success in this role.
This position will report to the Development Manager and will support the development activities for an active 16 million+ SF and growing industrial/logistics portfolio throughout the US.
Essential Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following.
Develop Concept Plans for large-scale industrial projects
Provide high-level design of grading, utility, and stormwater management
Provide a review of Zoning and Land Development Codes for initial due diligence
Review design plans and provide quality control comments in coordination with the Development Manager
Outline schedules and processes for jurisdictional approvals in coordination with the Development Manager
Organize and track tasks from weekly conference calls and coordination calls with consultants and jurisdictional staff
Source new land opportunities by developing a database of zoning maps within targeted regions determined by the Chief Development Officer and Development Manager
Coordinate with construction team (internal and external) for bid packages
Work with the Development Manager to review consultant proposals and provide high-level comparison summaries
Work with consultants to process design submission packages and coordinate with jurisdictional staff
Provide weekly project updates
Review and assist in processing invoices for design consultants
Assist in providing project budgets for initial due diligence and entitlements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from a 4-year accredited university or college
1-3 years of experience in land development design or development roles is required
Proficient with AutoCAD is required
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
Ability to read and review civil engineering and architectural drawings
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both internally and externally
Ability to work independently, problem solve, prioritize, and multi-task
Willingness and ability to travel
Detail-oriented and able to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced work environment
