*WORKING CONDITIONS: *Working hours are8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday, 35 hour work-week; Travel to/from sites; may have to work outside in inclement weather.
Inside work is in an air-conditioned office.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time *QUALIFICATIONS:* High-School graduate or equivalent; Must receive State Certification by state Equalization Board within one-year and be re-certified every five years; Must attend classes throughout the year; Must have a valid PA driver’s license.
*DUTIES OF POSITION: *The Chief assessor receives and approves construction plans/building permits for Commercial/Residential construction projects in Delaware County.
Also, supervises the Deed Clerks for accuracy in posting information that is necessary for completion of an assessment.
Obtains parcel number, assigns folio numbers, prepares corresponding file and forms.
· Inspects construction sites at various times to check progress and record pertinent information; Measures perimeter and interior.
· For industrial sites, must obtain thorough working knowledge of site operations and purpose of structures/buildings in order to determine what is assessable.
· Calculates appropriate assessment for property/structures.
· Verifies observations with plans/permits and resolves discrepancies; may utilize other sources to obtain needed information.
· Once a week, remains in the office to complete paperwork, update files, assist visitor and respond to phone calls.
Sketches construction to scale.
· Attends Tax Assessment Hearings, provides Supervisor with necessary information pertaining to properties in question and assists Manager in determining the results of the appeal.
· Oversees the input of the deed information by Deed Clerk for accuracy in posting.
· Meets with Supervisor, as needed, to receive and discuss work assignments, resolve problems.
Performs related duties.
*Residence Requirement:* The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees.
Anyone applying for this job *must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within three months of starting employment*.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $65,000.
