Assistant Tax Assessor

Ewing Township is accepting applications to fill an immediate vacancy for the full-time position of Assistant Tax Assessor.
Under direction, assists in the establishment of a system of valuations for real property; performs other related duties as required.
Inspects old and partly constructed buildings to determine alteration valuations and building values.
Measures buildings and computes their areas of content.
Estimates the values of buildings under construction.
Updates assessment maps as required.
Assists with the preparation of information for appeals before county and state tax boards.
Supervises the maintenance and balancing of tax books including changes, preparation of reports on building permits, and the review of real and personal property tax returns.
Assists visitors and gives detailed information relating to assessments.
Prepares and maintains essential records and files Will be required to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

html Requirements: Applicants must possess or be in the process of obtaining a current and valid Certified Tax Assessor certificate issued by NJ.
Must possess a valid NJ Driver's License.
Successful applicants must be fingerprinted and pass a mandatory background check, physical, and drug screening.
This title is governed by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission; meaning that if you are the successful candidate for this position, you will be placed as a provisional employee.
At a later date you will be required to take an examination administered by the Civil Service Commission.
Candidates must score and rank high enough on this examination in order to remain in the position as a permanent employee.
